Odysseus saved some of his crew members and avenged others. In the age we live in, we think of a hero who would go out of their own way to help someone else, and I don't think Odysseus quite fits. The similarities he has with a hero today is that he still did come up with ideas that ended up saving their lives, but the difference of the two are that Odysseus decided to say a little bit extra that may not end well in the future. While the hero may have said nothing that could put them in a bad situation in the future.

Odysseus saved his crew members. That would make him a hero in their eyes. Today stabbing someone in the eye would be a bad thing to do, but since it saved the lives of many he would still be considered a hero. A hero in our time is someone who goes out of thier way to help someone in need.In that case Odysseus came up with a plan to avoid the death of him and his crew. He helped people in need, which is our definition of a hero.

Odysseus has qualities that make him a hero, such as being brave, courageous, whitty, and outgoing. Also, when him and his men are attached to the sheep, he is the last to leave, showing bravery. I believe Odyessus could be defined as a hero in todays standards. The similarities are that of his actions, the way he treats people, etc. The differences are he's doing such to get back home, fighting mythical creatures.

I agree. Being the last to leave to make sure all his men came out alive was a heroic thing to do.

Odysseus saved some of his crew members, but I do not think he is considered a hero today. The reason is because today we think hero's are all about saving people and helping others. Odysseus did not save all of his crew members, which makes me think he is not a hero. The similarities are he still found ideas to help his crew, but the difference is he made things worse for him self by saying horrible things. If he did not say those horrible things, he would be a hero then.

But you have to remember he stood up against the Cyclopes to save the rest of his crew that was still alive. He would have died if he didn't do anything and through his cunning plan he and his crew escape.

In his time, Odysseus was considered a hero for many reasons. He was fought on the side of the Greeks against the Trojans during the Trojan War. He saved many people and avenged those who he could not save. Odysseus now a days can still be considered at the least a war hero. Many people look up to heroes that are cunning and intelligent. As portrayed in The Odyssey, Odysseus had these qualities. Although, he was considered to have just a little bit too much pride.

Odysseus could be considered a hero because of all the trials he and his men were put through. He led his troops out of danger and onto the next. Of course everyone has their flaws but that shouldn't take away from Odysseus' heroic actions. Odysseus shares the characteristic of care with heros in todays society. He takes care of men, well at least he tries and he also puts his life on the line in order to commplete the goal. A hero doesn't always have to necessarily save someone from harm or danger. A hero is someone who people are able to look up to and be able to model themselves after.

Odysseus could be considered a hero because he made it his mission to get his crew home. To his crew he would be a hero, but what he did to ensure his safety home wouldn't make him a hero in the eyes of people he hurt. I don't think Odysseus would be considered a hero in todays culture. His voyage would probably be in the news and be frowned upon. Today killing the bad guy in a supermarket to protect everyone in the store would consider you a hero, same with soldiers and veterans they protect our country. To Odysseus' crew he was a hero, but to the people he killed to get home wouldn't consider him a hero.

Odysseus is a hero because he won the Trojan War, helped save his crew, and he fought monsters. A hero today is generally somebody that does something for a person or their country. Some similarities between a modern hero and Odysseus are that they both helped people and did something for their country. However, a difference is that a modern hero does not fight giant monsters. I think Odysseus could still be considered a hero because he helped people and he won the war.

In the Odyssey, Odysseus is considered a hero dew to he bravery, perseverance, strength, and ability to think under presser. In todays culture a hero is defined as someone with the ability to help anyone who needs it.

Odysseus is a hero because of the actions and risks he took to fight the Cyclopes and saveed some of his squad. Odysseus and the people we consider hero's today are similar because today's hero's are brave, and courageous and that's what makes me believe that Odysseus could be considered a hero in today's standards.

Odyssesus is a hero because he helped his men get out of the cave safely (even though some of them were eaten). Now people today aren't giants and they don't eat people but heroes today would be considered people who help others from natural disaster or just simply saving someone's life. The qualities of a hero now and then are very similar, like the idea of helping someone. And the differences would be the simple fact that saving someone from being eaten by a giant as to saving someone who's dying from an illness or injury. By today's standards, I do think Odysseus would still be considered a hero just because he got most of his men out safely.

Odysseus has many qualities that some would consider hero like. One quality is that he does not give up on his crew. Even when his crew members had lost hope or given up he still kept going and kept them going as well. Another action that he had done that could qualify him to be considered as a hero is he got some of his men home. Some of his men were tragically lost during his journey but the men who made it through he kept his word and brought them home when he could have given up or only saved himself. Although he has many hero-like qualities and has made many hero-like actions, some would argue he has to many non-hero like qualities and has done some questionable things to be considered a hero.

Odysseus would be a hero because he was loyal to his crew. Odysseus has saved his crew. Today, I would think of someone who is outgoing, loyal, and would be willing to help other people. I believe that Odysseus should still be considered a hero for todays standards.

Odysseus is a hero to his men he promised to take home. Today I personally think Odysseus is would not be a hero. Because of the fact that he, back then was someone people looked up to. Back then when they were in the cave he did have some bright ideas to save his men and keep them alive, but later on when Polyphemus put that curse on him that he'd never make it home, he's not so much the hero, he made the cyclopse mad and now he's been cursed. Good job Odysseus...

Odysseus was kind of a hero he had when on adventures and he had personality traits of a hero such as his wittiness and he's creativity and he's mental strength but he also had flaws to such as his argents and his deception so with that's being said he could be a hero but he needs to fix his flaws.

Odysseus is a hero. He his a hero because for example when the people ate the lotus and didn't want to go home, he tied them up on the ship anyway. He knew that it was the lotus talking and they did really want to go home. He can be compared to a modern day firefighter, hes brave and wants to save people like his crew.

Odysseus is still considered a hero by today standards. He is willing to do anything for his crew and to risk his own life to help. Odysseus is smart courageous and adventurous. Heroes today are the same to heroes back then no hero quality has changed and Odysseus fits those qualities. I think Odysseus can be hero and then cannot he is only a person and he could be selfish at times. but at the end as long as he cares for his crew members. Odysseus does put his needs in front of others he did come up with the plan and when they had the chance to escape he still does not leave but waits another day. the crew didn't want to say and they could've left by then but he didn't ask his crew but only himself. odysseus is hero in other peoples eyes but he doesn't fit all the qualities that is takes.

Odysseus could be remembered as a hero in there time because he saved his crew from the Cyclopes and only lost a few men wall doing so. But to relate him as a hero today most be leave he would of had to do something cunning, and or live or die trying to doing that something right. Most "hero's" I would count would be anything like a war hero because he got his team out alive through some of the harshest condition, through custom Odysseus would be considered a hero due to is brave actions with the cyclopes

it think that the characteristic's that make Odysseus a hero are that he is a brave man and looks over his people and an example of this would be when he saved his people by getting the Cyclops drunk and stabbing him in the eye. killing a threat to his society =. and that makes him seem like hero. or maybe just the fact that he and his crew went to the island to check this Cyclops out. he brought safety and comfort to his people and that's what we might consider a hero. a hero may be someone who solves a great conflict. and he did that. so yes Odysseus would be a hero and he has hero characteristics.

When I think about Odysseus being a hero I get the picture of him saving the day. Not very often do you hear people talking about what a hero is and who a hero is. Odysseus is heroic for saving his crew memebrs and others. I dont think he is a hero for stabbing Polyphemus in the eye he , was actually nice. Similarities today is examples such as doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, and other people along those lines. They help and save us today. The differences are murderers, criminals, fighters, muggers, and mean people. Basically BULLY'S. I do think Odysseus can still be defined as a hero today. Everyone starts as a hero when they are born but that can change as they grow up.

Odysseus could be considered a hero because when the Cyclops starts to eat his men he later thinks that if they make a spear, he will be able to "blind" him so the men can get back to their ship. Odysseus could be called a hero because he saved the lives of some of his men but then he might not be called a hero because he wanted to stay longer and tease the Cyclops and could have ended worse then what actually happened. I don't think that he could be defined as a hero just because of a few lives that he saved.

What makes Odysseus a hero is the fact that he is trying to do everything that he can to make sure the guys/the crew get home.Today a person heroic qualities contains loyalty, which means you have to be able to comit to what you say you will comit to and what you are willing to fight for and that will not just give up when you reach a tough situation. Also bravery is a huge part of being a hero because you have to show that you are strong to keep the people calm. A similarity that heros then and now had is dedication and a good heart and mind set.

Odysseus has many qualities of a hero that include courage, determination, and the ability to do anything he sets his mind to do for example, taking his crew home. Some similarities that between modern day heros and heros back then are that for us, a hero is someone who will go out of their own way to help others and is trustworthy. Some differences are that in The Odyssey, Odysseus stabs Polyphemus and is still considered a hero but in present day, a hero wouldn't do something like that. Also a hero wouldn't be so cocky when he wins a battle like Odysseus is. I think Odysseus would and wouldn't be considered a hero because there are many points of view and opinons. One way he could be a hero is that he went out of his own way and used his knowledge to save himself and his crew. A way that he is not a hero is because he hurts Polyphemus and is very full of himself at the end which allows Polyphemus to curse him and his crew.

Odysseus was a hero. He was a hero because he saved some of his men. He also conquered a cyclopes. Odysseus was a smart brave and honorable man. In todays world heros are somewhat similer they are the same because we still look up to honarable brave charecters who risk their life for the sake of others. Heros are also different in some ways. In todays world there arent any cyclopes living in caves feeding off of humans that we need to kill. odysseus was a hero because he escaped one and helped his group of men but today it is heroic to save someone from a burning building or to stop someone talking a womens purse. i think that odysseus could still be considered a hero because of his heart to help not becayse he physically escaped a cyclops to take him men home.

Odysseus is to be preferred to as a hero because of his heroic abilities of saving his crew and others outside of it. Even though he did do some gory things, he is still considered being a hero in these days. He has much bravery and courage in defending what he stands for. A hero doesn't care if they hurt themselves while saving another because that's what a real savior does which he did to save his crew.

The things that make a person a hero is doing what others are too afraid to accomplish. Put others life before yours, take risks snd deal with the consuquences. In todays society a hero is someone thats a firefighter, police officer, or someone military. But in the time of odyssues a hero was someone who took out the most dangerous supernatural beings. While in the process doing many stupid things that went unnoticed. For example when odyssues stabbed the cyclops he was a hero for getting them free but just kept picking with polyphemus who was son of poisidon. Odyssues biggest consuquence of not being able togo home was what he got for being a so called hero.

I think Odysseus is definitely a hero. Like today, Odysseus shows he’s heroic by saving his men many times throughout “The Odyssey.” Many times in heroic movies we’d see a hero/heroic figure save another. Usually the hero, like Odysseus, has to be smart with their approach. Although sadly, Odysseus could not save all his men. Today, the hero is accounted for everyone and it is really hard on them due to that reason. To me, I think Odysseus could be a hero today.

Today in our culture, a hero is anyone who speaks out or goes out of their way to help others. This is similar and also very different to a hero in the age of Odysseus. A hero in his age, is someone usually with some sort of super human power. Sometimes they are even considered to be Gods. In most of the old stories, the hero saves the people from a villain, but today, our heroes are everyday people who do the right thing. Although these two forms of heroes are very different, they both help other people. Today, I don't think Odysseus would be a hero. A hero would have put others before himself, and would have done anything he could to save them.

Yes i do believe Odysseus would still be considered as a hero today. Although he did attack a Cyclops using trickery and deception. He saved his life and his men and helped everyone escape from the island. Yes he did taunt the Cyclops while sailing away, but he still deserves to be honored as a hero for his bravery and saving the lives of many of his men.

i think what makes odysseus a hero is how he saved some of his crew and how he defeated the cyclopes by stabbing him in the eye. Also by the decissions that he makes for himself and others. and today what we call a hero and the ones we see in the movies are people who make decissions for others stands up for people. Those are similarities of how odysseus and today heros are alike. But some diffrences are how odysseus is a gero from a long time ago also he did stuff that some of our heros today will never do. Like killing cyclopes and trying to escape Lotus eaters. Today we show our hero form in a diffrent way like fighting in the war putting out fires having police officers to make sure our saftey for the people arent at risk.I think odysseus can still be thought of as a hero because he still did the basic things that our heros do today.

I think that Odysseus could be considered a hero in today's culture. I think this because while he didn't save the entirety of his crew he still saved most of them. And he waited for the rest of his men to get out before he himself did. That quality of putting others ahead above yourself, is in my opinion what makes a hero. He did the best he could to save as many men as he could with what he had. No one could save all of the crew members.

Odysseus was a hero becuase he showed courage and braveness by savuing his crew members.Which makes him a hero. Now in today society your a hero if you help someone out on their school paper. The term in todays society is completely different then what it actually use to be. Most things that Odysseus was hero like. Which is not displayed as much as it should be in todays society. I also think that he could still be labeled as a hero today though. Even though the actual word and term has died, people will still show as much resoect as they should for what he had done.
